Mage and Monsters II is a single-player strategy game built around commanding a force through a hero rather than directing every fighter individually. You recruit a hero to lead your army, then cast spells while its units battle automatically. Its active auto-battler format puts the player’s choices in preparation and support: strengthen the hero, reinforce the army, or invest in spell power.
The roster and upgrade range give those choices room to vary. Players can select from 18 heroes, recruit among 25 unit types, and work with more than 100 upgrades. In battle, 13 spells can assist the army against a field of over 50 enemies. The design therefore combines army-building and hero development with direct magical intervention, rather than making spellcasting a separate activity from the fighting.
Three maps each bring a distinct challenge, giving the campaign’s battles different settings and objectives. The game’s defining format is a solo strategy experience where players shape an army and its leader while spells add an active layer to automated combat.
