Lunacid casts you into the Great Well, a subterranean world beneath a land poisoned by the Great Beast. Banished for crimes unknown, you awaken in the depths with the sleeping Old One as your hoped-for destination. Its first-person role-playing adventure draws on an older dungeon-crawling tradition, making its oppressive setting and hidden routes central to the journey rather than mere scenery.
Exploration rewards a watchful eye: secret areas, hidden magic, cryptic clues, and esoteric puzzles are tucked through the dungeons. Combat favors deliberate exchanges over dodge rolls, with swipes, backsteps, and blocks shaped by body targeting and enemies’ elemental strengths or resistances. Players choose a starting character, then develop it while uncovering a large arsenal of weapons and spells, some of which have uses beyond the obvious. Saving, multiple endings, and a single-player format give the adventure a solitary, progression-focused shape.
Its appeal rests on patient combat, discovery, and a deliberately old-fashioned sense of dungeon challenge, with the possibility of different endings adding another dimension to its role-playing structure.
