Luminosity turns a space ship and an open map into the tools of an arcade score attack. Rather than simply shooting at enemy drones, you must close off areas of the map and claim a required share of territory before the trapped foes are destroyed. The objective gives each encounter a spatial puzzle, while the game’s rising challenge adds pressure as more kinds of enemy appear.
Its arcade mode pairs that escalating opposition with randomly generated levels and backgrounds, so runs are built around changing layouts rather than a fixed sequence. For a more structured route, the campaign offers 36 levels. Progress also carries over through a permanent upgrade store: currency earned during play can be spent improving ships, and the roster includes ten craft with different strengths and weaknesses, some unlocked through the campaign.
Luminosity is primarily a single-player game, but it also supports split-screen one-versus-one matches that require a touch screen. Leaderboards provide another competitive outlet, letting players compare results globally or challenge friends.
