Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch casts players as a shipwreck survivor who accepts a mysterious witch’s offer of another chance, then wakes on a cursed island beset by the dead. The way forward is an expedition to fulfill her bidding, giving the game’s repeated journeys a clear narrative purpose. Its roguelite structure treats defeat as part of that journey rather than a final stop.
Battles unfold on grids, where positioning and deliberate choices matter alongside party composition. Build a squad of five from nine characters, then shape their roles with skills and weapons. Elemental interactions add tactical options: electrify soaked enemies or set flammable terrain alight, while matching weapons to enemy armor can help break through defenses. Between fights, branching paths, random events, hidden rewards, and dangerous encounters ask players to adjust their plans from run to run.
Progress also reaches beyond an individual journey, with permanent stat boosts at base camp, character promotions, and ally bonds that reveal backstories and offer tactical advantages. After a successful expedition, players can pursue clues about the witch and island, or take on Trials Mode with customizable difficulty modifiers.
