Touhou: Lost Branch of Legend is a roguelike deckbuilder set in Gensokyo, where the theft of the Jeweled Branch of Hourai turns a Lunar Capital exhibition into an incident for Reimu Hakurei to solve. Its cast of Touhou heroines gives the investigation a character-driven frame: Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya and Cirno each bring a distinct magical identity to the adventure.
Building a deck is closely tied to the game’s mana system. Cards are collected alongside Shining Exhibits, which can permanently add mana; each exhibit’s colors can in turn shape how a deck plays. The featured characters specialize in different color pairings, giving their starting approaches distinct profiles. Reimu is described as an all-rounder, while Marisa leans into potions and firepower, Sakuya’s style centers on knives and time, and Cirno uses freezing and teammates.
Combat also draws on danmaku, the patterned projectile attacks associated with Touhou. The game describes more than 500 patterns, with barriers offering a way to block them. Runs bring together card collection, exhibits, enemy encounters and events, with the overall design combining deck construction and spell-card-inspired action. Its broad cast and varied mana colors make the choices of character and collected treasures central to how a run takes shape.
