Kazuma Kiryu has faked his death and taken the codename Joryu to protect his family, but a mysterious figure draws him back into conflict. That personal predicament anchors an action adventure set among the vibrant locations of Sotenbori and Yokohama, where characters and activities sit alongside the central story. The game’s appeal is its contrast between a tightly focused identity crisis and a lively world full of diversions.
Combat hinges on switching between two styles. Yakuza emphasizes forceful, aggressive attacks, while Agent pairs speed and precision with high-tech gadgets, including electrified bind wires that can stun and launch enemies. Rather than treating these as cosmetic variations, the design invites players to adapt their approach to the fight. Outside brawls, activities range from karaoke and a live-action cabaret club to pocket circuit racing, while informant Akame offers sub-missions that develop as players explore.
The secret Battle arena provides another outlet for combat, and the Coliseum’s Legendary Fighter Pack names Goro Majima, Taiga Saejima, and Daigo Dojima as playable allies.
