Life is Strange: True Colors follows Alex Chen, who arrives in the town of Haven Springs carrying a power she has spent years suppressing. She can experience, absorb and manipulate other people’s intense emotions, which appear to her as colored auras. When her brother dies in what is called an accident, Alex must use that volatile ability to investigate his death and the secrets surrounding the town. The supernatural premise makes emotional perception central to a personal mystery, rather than treating it as a side detail.
The adventure combines investigation and choice with Alex’s psychic Empathy: the store description says players can use it to change fate and lives. Decisions also shape her future, while conversations and relationships offer routes toward friendship or romance with Ryan and Steph. Away from the central mystery, players can roam Haven Springs, including its streets, stores and hidden spaces, and decide Alex’s style through a wardrobe of outfits. These details give the story room for both close character moments and exploration.
As a single-player adventure, True Colors is built around one player following Alex’s story and making choices, not around a shared multiplayer session. The game also features an original score by Angus & Julia Stone, alongside new and licensed songs, adding a musical dimension to its character-focused presentation.
