Life is Strange: Reunion reunites Max Caulfield and Chloe Price at Caledon University, where an approaching inferno threatens the campus. Chloe arrives haunted by nightmares and impossible memories, while Max faces a crisis of her own: she has only three days before the blaze. Their personal history and the danger at Caledon frame a story in which the fate of the university and the pair’s future are shaped by player decisions.
The adventure lets players control both characters, with distinct approaches built into their roles. Max’s Rewind power can undo and redo decisions, alter conversations, and manipulate the environment to solve four-dimensional puzzles. Chloe instead uses her Backtalk ability, relying on wit and barbed put-downs as she investigates the secrets behind her nightmares and double memories. The game also asks players to identify the fire’s culprits and decide who survives, tying investigation and consequential choices to the central crisis.
Its design combines character-driven storytelling, branching decisions, puzzle-solving, and Chloe’s verbal confrontations, alongside an original score and both nostalgic and new licensed tracks. The result places Max and Chloe’s relationship at the center of a high-stakes mystery, with the coming fire giving their choices a looming deadline.
