Level Zero: Extraction casts players as mercenaries venturing into exclusion zones overrun by aliens and mutants. The objective is to recover valuable items and escape, alone or with friends, while threats come from both the environment and rival players. Its three settings are a space station, caves, and a research facility, giving the raids distinct locations without changing their core extraction premise.
Survival hinges on combining armed combat with light and careful looting. UV light can damage alien monsters, while evacuation points offer routes out with recovered gear and crafting materials. Before a raid, players can equip tools such as motion detectors and light traps; successful extractions can build trader reputation and unlock items and cosmetic rewards. The mix of PvE dangers and PvP encounters makes each outing a contest over both survival and valuable cargo.
The other defining perspective is the alien hunt: players can control a monster that stalks humans, uses ventilation systems and traps, and disrupts lights with EMP waves. Mutations let the alien develop its abilities, setting up an asymmetric clash between armed extraction teams and a creature built for ambush.
