LET IT DIE casts the player as a survivor attempting to climb the Tower of Barbs, a spire raised from the ocean after a catastrophe split off part of South Western Tokyo. Uncle Death, a skateboarding reaper, offers advice along the way, while rumors of a sacred treasure give the dangerous ascent its goal. The game’s pulp survival-action premise pairs grotesque humor with a hostile, mysterious setting.
Progress means more than fighting every enemy. Players search the tower for weapons and armor, take equipment from defeated foes, or craft better gear. Food matters too: mushrooms, frogs, and other creatures can restore strength or trigger special abilities. Choosing when to fight and when to sneak away is part of staying alive, since a fighter who runs out of HP dies and returns as an enemy. Rage Moves and Goretastics add particularly violent finishers to the combat.
LET IT DIE also includes Tokyo Death Metro, where players join a team, raid opponents’ stashes, and risk having their own stash raided in turn. Hunters extend that conflict by sending a fighter into another player’s world to seek resources for a limited time.
