Layers of Fear follows a painter obsessed with completing his magnum opus. The story unfolds inside his decaying home, where exploration brings memories, sinister visions, and clues about the truth behind the masterpiece and the obsession that consumed him. Its Victorian setting draws on the paintings, architecture, and décor of the nineteenth century, giving the house an artistic frame as well as a horror atmosphere.
The central scare is a shifting environment tied to the Painter’s fragile state of mind: rooms reshape when the player looks away. That makes looking around more than a way to inspect the surroundings; the home itself becomes an unstable part of the experience. Original artwork and music also contribute to the story and its richly detailed locations, joining the changing spaces in building an unsettling journey through the Painter’s perspective.
This is a single-player adventure, so its play format is a focused, individual passage through a narrative horror game rather than a shared session.
