Last Epoch is an action RPG set in Eterra, a world shaped by different eras, dangerous factions and the threat of the Void. Its time-travel premise gives dungeon crawling a broader purpose: journeys through the past uncover secrets and let players fight to redirect the timeline. The result is a game focused not only on defeating enemies, but also on shaping a character capable of meeting tougher challenges.
Character building is central to that pursuit. Players begin with one of five classes and can advance into specialized Mastery Classes, while individual skills have their own upgrade trees. Those trees can substantially change abilities, such as turning a lightning blast into chain lightning or reshaping skeletons into archers. Randomized loot, powerful unique and set items, and a crafting system with deterministic upgrades add further ways to develop a build and pursue better equipment.
Steam lists Last Epoch as single-player as well as multiplayer, with online co-op among its supported categories, so a count is a snapshot of activity around a game that can be approached alone or with others. It does not, by itself, describe how players divide their time between story exploration, combat, crafting and refining character builds.
