Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker casts the player as manager of a matchmaking agency, working under the guidance of Kitty Powers, a drag queen diva. Its premise turns romance into an agency-management comedy: clients arrive hoping for love, while the player makes choices intended to help their dates go well. Kitty’s naughty wit and PC-version voice overs add a distinct comic presence to the matchmaking work.
The agency pairs procedurally generated clients with candidates according to interests, personality, appearance and income. Before a date, players can choose an outfit and gift; during it, they guide clients through awkward conversations and a wide range of dilemmas, relying on research, skill and some luck. That blend of preparation and in-the-moment decisions gives the dating-simulator format its practical hook, rather than making matchmaking a matter of simply selecting a couple.
Progression ties the dates back to running the business: growing the agency’s reputation unlocks venues, more demanding clientele and upgrades, while expansions such as a salon and gift shop help attract discerning daters and bigger rewards.
