King’s Guard TD frames tower defense as a last stand for a threatened kingdom. A wave of invaders ranging from villagers and warriors to ravens, bats, eagles, and dragons is closing in, and the player must protect the throne. That fantasy gives the defense a clear purpose: every placement and tactical choice is part of holding the empire against a varied assault.
Its strategic core is building and upgrading six tower types, each with distinct abilities suited to different enemies. Tactical items add further options, including calling down meteor rain, entangling enemies, and launching an ambush. The campaign structure spans three environments and three campaigns, with fifty described levels, plus boss encounters whose foes have different strengths and abilities. Players can also adjust game speed through function-key controls, making pace an explicit part of the design.
The game is listed as single-player, so its play format centers on an individual defending the kingdom rather than coordinating with other players.
