King’s Bounty: Warriors of the North is a standalone story in the series, set in Endoria a generation after the events of The Legend. You play Olaf, a Viking warrior defending his homeland as an undead army advances from the north. The campaign ranges across Nordig’s icy islands, old strongholds, and war-torn regions, giving the adventure a focused northern setting and a threat that grows from local conflict into a larger campaign.
Exploration unfolds in real time across a hand-crafted world, while battles switch to turn-based tactics. Success depends on preparation, positioning, morale, and how units work together, rather than simply sending troops into combat. Rune Magic adds another tactical choice: units can expend runes for temporary bonuses. Five Valkyrie companions offer distinct abilities and bonuses, while Viking-inspired forces such as Berserkers and Skalds, alongside enhanced Rage mechanics, give the game its own martial character.
Its single-player format centers the experience on Olaf’s campaign and strategic development, rather than shared or competitive matches. The result is a strategy RPG whose identity rests on campaign progression, army composition, and the choices made before and during combat.
