KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue collects three story pieces leading up to KINGDOM HEARTS III. In Dream Drop Distance HD, Sora and Riku take the Mark of Mastery exam as they prepare for a showdown with Master Xehanort. The collection brings that character-focused adventure together with material that broadens the series’ history, giving players more than one format for following its story.
Dream Drop Distance HD is a full-HD remaster, and its backgrounds have been enhanced. χ Back Cover takes a different approach: it is an HD movie about the mysterious Foretellers and the series’ origins, rather than another playable episode. Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage – is described as a short episode that links to KINGDOM HEARTS III. This combination of remastered adventure, animated storytelling and a linking episode gives the collection a distinct structure instead of presenting one continuous game.
Dream Drop Distance’s exam supplies one character-driven thread; the movie and short episode add separate narrative pieces. The game is available in Japanese and International versions, with the preferred language selected through the Steam launcher.
