Kingdom Eighties recasts the Kingdom series’ tower-defense premise as a story about a small town threatened by Greed monsters. You play The Leader, tasked with defending the community and protecting the Crown of Creation, a family heirloom the creatures are trying to steal. Its setting draws on bikes, summer camps, neon-lit pixels, and an ’80s-inspired synth soundtrack, giving the survival story a distinct nostalgic style.
The defense work blends recruitment, resource gathering, and preparation for attacks. The Leader gathers three companions with unique skills and recruits neighborhood kids to build defenses and collect coins; those recruits can also run businesses such as a lemonade stand or pizza shop. Managing the crew and unlocking tools help prepare the town for the Greed’s nighttime assaults. The story also asks what happened to the adults and where the monsters came from, leaving clues to uncover as the threat is pushed back.
Alongside its story-based adventure, the game offers Survival Mixtapes, an arcade-style mode built around increasingly difficult waves across four episodes. Random mounts and buildings with disabled special abilities add changing conditions to those battles.
