Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes builds its premise around an uneven view of a crisis: one player sees the bomb, while the others have the manual but cannot see what needs defusing. The group must describe, interpret and act on information quickly, making communication and puzzle-solving central to the challenge.
Bombs use procedurally generated puzzles, so the task changes between attempts. Missions introduce modules as their difficulty increases, while Freeplay lets players configure custom bombs and choose their own pace. The game’s tension comes from having to translate what is visible into instructions others can use before time runs out; the manual holder’s knowledge and the person facing the bomb are deliberately separated.
The game is designed for local co-op, usually played together in person, but friends can also communicate remotely through a third-party voice chat service. One copy is enough for friends to join as Experts using the free Bomb Defusal Manual, which can be printed or viewed. Optional VR support adds another way to experience the bomb while separated from the Experts, and rounds can be swapped among friends.
