Istrolid puts ship design at the center of its strategy. Rather than choosing from fixed units or factions, players assemble spacecraft from a large selection of parts, shaping a fleet to suit a preferred approach. The designs are meant to balance strengths and weaknesses, whether they resemble agile fighters or imposing battleships.
Battles make those choices practical. In fights over territory, players maneuver ships while accounting for energy, weapon range, firing arcs, turn rates, and firepower. The game also offers a single-player campaign across a galaxy, where collecting parts supports the construction of larger, more capable ships against opponents that grow tougher and more complex. Custom AI fleets provide another test, and players can create an AI to fight alongside them.
Istrolid supports both solo and allied multiplayer combat, including PvP and online co-op. Its defining loop connects creative shipbuilding with tactical positioning, so fleet composition and battlefield decisions are closely linked.
