Isonzo brings its tactical multiplayer combat to the mountain campaigns of the Italian Front, drawing on offensives such as the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo and the Strafexpedition. Its setting is more than a backdrop: players fight across hillside fortresses, mountain trenches and city streets, with terrain to learn for cover or surprise attacks. The game presents these landscapes as historically researched recreations, including details from houses and vineyards to trenches.
Class choice shapes a soldier’s role, with six classes that include the long-range Marksman, line-breaking Assault and order-giving Officer. Combat mixes direct attacks with supporting work such as cutting barbed wire or operating machine guns and mortars. A flare gun can mark targets for artillery or biplane attacks, while bayonets and trench clubs bring fighting up close. Players can also alter the battlefield by placing sandbags, wire and ammunition crates, adding tactical choices to an already hazardous landscape of gas and artillery.
The game’s documented format is online, competitive multiplayer, alongside a single-player category in its store listing; its central design, however, is built around team tactics in historical battles.
