Intruder takes the stealth and tactical ambitions of games such as Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell into a team-based shooter, pitting Guards against Intruders. Its missions revolve around multiple objectives and escape routes, with player actions shaping the unfolding encounters rather than a fixed single-player campaign.
The design rewards coordination and deception. Players can monitor live security cameras, trigger motion detectors near explosive traps, and share warnings by radio; when enemies are close, SWAT hand signals offer silent communication. Proximity voice chat adds another tactical wrinkle because nearby opponents can overhear speech. Movement and environmental interaction broaden the options: characters can climb, crawl through vents, swim, and use interactive buildings with spotlights, sliding windows, and elevators. Gadgets can distract or outwit opponents, while realistic ballistics account for windage and bullet drop.
Its defining appeal is the combination of stealth, communication, and interactive spaces, not simply the firefights of a conventional multiplayer shooter.
