Infinite Lives sets its action in a city ruled by supernatural violence, with superhumans and subhumans battling over a shared universe. Players create an origin story and seek to discover who they are, while developing powers or risking the loss of their human spirit. The adventure spans locations from the city to the stars, amid shifting allegiances and a large roster of heroes and villains.
Combat draws on wrestling, while an ambitious control scheme assigns abilities across the buttons, offering a wide range of powers to mix and match. Weapons and scenery are interactive parts of the action, and cinematic camera angles and multiple-choice dialogue extend the design beyond fighting. In Fight Scenes, players choose the combatants, location and equipment; elsewhere, they can roam the map and encounter the city’s destructible surroundings.
Its editor allows players to save changes after discovering characters’ secret identities. Alongside the origin-story choices and customisable Fight Scenes, that feature gives the game a personal, adaptable angle on its superhero conflict.
