Inexistence follows Hald, a Keeper whose sister has been put into a deep slumber by Claos, a man seeking to upset the world’s balance. Hald sets out to find his brother and break the spell, travelling across a world described as full of mystery and danger. That personal rescue mission gives the adventure a clear direction, while its larger conflict turns on the Keepers’ role in maintaining order.
The game draws on classic 16-bit-era Metroidvanias, with pixel-art environments and a varied bestiary that includes imposing bosses. RPG elements let players customize hero stats and equipment, while progression brings new abilities. The design also includes side quests, hidden places and multiple difficulty levels, combining exploration and character development with challenges that can be approached at different levels of difficulty.
Inexistence is listed as a single-player game, so its play format centers on an individual adventure rather than shared sessions. Steam achievements, trading cards and badges add collectible goals alongside the main quest.
