In Stars and Time follows Siffrin and a close-knit group of adventurers as they try to end an evil king’s tyrannical reign. Just as the party nears victory, tragedy resets the clock, leaving Siffrin alone with the knowledge that events have happened before. The loop gives the RPG’s story its distinctive tension: every attempt to move forward also makes Siffrin confront the emotional cost of starting over.
Repetition is also the game’s central problem-solving tool. Each loop gives Siffrin a fresh perspective, which can open new puzzle solutions and improve choices in conversation. In battle, the party faces strategic turn-based encounters built around Rock, Paper, Scissors. Players can equip memories of their friends as combat armor and pray to the Change God to improve the team’s capabilities with each loop, tying relationships and ritual to the struggle for survival.
That combination of narrative discovery, puzzles, conversations and turn-based combat frames In Stars and Time as a single-player RPG rather than a shared or competitive experience.
