In Silence is an online horror game built around an uneasy reversal of the hunter-and-hunted dynamic. One player can take the role of Rake, a monster whose vision depends on sound, while survivors coordinate through proximity voice chat. Rake can detect faint noises across long distances, so a careless step or broken object may reveal a survivor’s position. Silence offers cover, but sound can also be used deliberately: survivors may turn on a TV or radio to distract the creature or create an opening for a trap.
Survivors have two routes to victory: repair a car and escape, or open a hidden armory and take the fight to Rake. Weapons and a flashlight with a flashbang effect offer ways to resist the monster, though the armory and escape gates enrage Rake. The game also reshuffles roles, perks, escape points, and item placement between matches. Its Nightmare Mode makes scavenging especially constrained, with the available items matching what survivors need to find. A survivor who dies returns as a mouse, able to help teammates by locating objects or distracting Rake.
A count therefore relates to a game whose tension depends on how players share roles and communicate, rather than on combat alone.
