ICBM: Escalation is a grand strategy RTS about commanding a continent-spanning faction in a volatile global conflict. Players build military forces, develop technology and choose how to pressure rival powers, with victory possible through conventional conquest as well as nuclear devastation. That breadth makes the central tension more than a race to launch: military strength, resource disruption and the risk of escalation all shape a struggle for dominance.
Its strategic toolkit spans nuclear submarines, strategic bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles, alongside invasions intended to weaken enemy resources and compel surrender. Research moves through technological eras from the early Cold War toward speculative near-future systems, while diplomacy offers research agreements, ceasefires and negotiations over captured territory. International treaties can also restrict particular weapons, adding political choices to the military contest.
The modes give the conflict different rhythms: Standoff builds from conventional skirmishes toward nuclear war, Conquest emphasizes prolonged strategy and brinkmanship, and returning Blitz Mode centers on rapid nuclear confrontation. A single-player campaign spans historical and imagined future scenarios, while multiplayer supports matches of up to 10 players.
