Ib begins with a simple visit to an art gallery: a young girl named Ib arrives with her parents, then discovers she has been left alone as the museum changes around her. This remake of a 2D exploration adventure builds its unsettling setting from pixel-art exhibits and a gallery that becomes increasingly mysterious. Its premise keeps the focus close to the artworks and the search for a way out.
Play centers on exploring rooms, inspecting the surroundings, finding items and disarming traps while solving puzzles. The controls are deliberately basic, built around movement and interaction, while the remake adds redesigned and new puzzles, a zoom mode for examining details, and a conversation system through which companions can offer hints. Player actions and choices shape which of seven endings is reached. After completing the game, players can revisit collected artwork in the True Guertena exhibit and explore an additional dungeon.
Its gallery setting, multiple endings and post-completion exhibit give that solo journey a distinctive structure.
