Gamindustri has fallen into disorder under ASIC, a crime syndicate whose influence has eroded morality and left the authorities looking away. The goddesses must try to reclaim their world or risk becoming lost in the Gamindustri Graveyard. That playful, self-aware crisis gives this RPG a distinctive setting: its threatened world is treated with humor even as the stakes frame the adventure.
Combat is turn-based, with up to four characters fighting on the battlefield and four more waiting on the sidelines to provide support. The game pairs those tactical encounters with dramatic HDD transformations, while Stella’s separate real-time dungeon mini-game sends her after treasure. That expedition carries a risk: if Stella falls, she loses her special gear. Players can also adjust the experience through Plans, including changing enemy difficulty or dungeon rewards, and build custom equipment using Idea Chips and Blank Discs.
The mix of party battles, configurable dungeon rules, equipment creation, and Stella’s autonomous-feeling treasure run makes Re;Birth2 a single-player RPG built around several complementary systems rather than a shared multiplayer mode.
