Hunting Simulator 2 casts players as hunters exploring broad natural environments, from Colorado plains and the Texan desert to Eastern European forests. Its open-world setting gives the pursuit room to unfold through observation rather than a simple sequence of targets: players search for animal tracks and follow them to locate prey. The game lists 33 animal species, each encountered in its natural environment.
Tracking is paired with a hunting dog, with Labrador Retriever, German Shorthaired Pointer and Beagle companions distinguished by their specific hunting attributes. Animal behaviour and advanced artificial intelligence are part of the simulation, while accurate aiming matters because a poorly placed shot can spoil a trophy. Players can also select from more than 160 weapons, accessories and clothing items, including equipment from named hunting brands.
Its appeal is in combining open landscapes and animal tracking with the practical details of preparation and a working dog at the hunter’s side.
