Set ten years before the previous game, Home Behind 2 follows Banan as she returns to Scaria, a country in civil war, to join the revolution against dictator Akadullah. With the help of Norto Republic agent Prince and Haroun, a disgraced tribal leader’s son, she leads a group of guerilla fighters into government territory. The campaign frames its journey through western Scaria as a struggle to evade the regime and wrest control of the country.
Its roguelike structure pairs randomly generated areas with a strategic real-time combat system that players can pause to issue commands or use tactics. Recruits can be trained and assigned among 36 jobs, each with distinct talents, stats and battle skills. Between encounters, players can build and upgrade a camp for activities including cooking, technology upgrades and armor crafting. Random weapon and armor drops add equipment choices, while vehicles can be mounted with weapons as the party faces mechanized enemies. Terrain also brings random events and buildings, asking players to respond to problems in different environments.
The broader route through Scaria includes occupying enemy oil fields, claiming cities and taking on side missions alongside the main campaign. The game’s political conflict and roguelike systems meet in a format where the player guides a revolution through changing regions and encounters.
