Hide and Shriek turns a Halloween school tradition into a one-versus-one contest between students from Little Springs High and Innsmouth Academy. The rivals sneak into school after midnight and become invisible, making concealment part of the premise rather than a temporary advantage.
Winning means scaring the opponent before time expires; if neither player has a clear lead when the timer ends, the higher score takes the match. Points come from scares, luring a rival into traps, or performing an ancient ritual. Since both players are hidden, the hunt runs in both directions: watch for doors opening, objects moving or traps going off, then use spells and cunning traps to expose the other player before they find you.
The spell collection adds playful ways to disrupt a rival, including blinding them, booby-trapping doors and unleashing a demon. Once an opponent is spotted, players can sneak close and shriek to frighten them. Hide and Shriek supports matches with friends or strangers, keeping its focus on one-on-one mind games, surprise and score-chasing rather than a larger team format.
