Hell Maiden casts Dante as a heroine unexpectedly returned to Hell after reaching Paradiso, with her memories gone and a new climb toward Heaven ahead. Inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, this action horde-survival game frames its journey as a search for answers as well as salvation, with Virgil and Beatrice accompanying Dante and the Poets of Limbo among the figures she can rescue and befriend.
Combat and character building revolve around cards rather than a fixed arsenal. Players organize unique weapons and abilities into a deck, combine Spirit Cards with bonuses and status effects, and use opponents’ signature abilities in their own builds. Mod Cards alter Weapon Cards, inviting experimentation with combinations and playstyle while facing waves of demons and powerful fiends. Rescuing poets and defeating bosses also adds abilities and perks to the mix, tying progression to the figures and challenges encountered in Hell.
Its design links the horde-survival pressure to a larger Dante-inspired journey, with card customization shaping how players meet the game’s enemies and challenges.
