Heckabomb casts you as the pilot of a doomsday weapon surviving the destruction of its home planet. The alien armada is the target: fight through enemy defenses, reach hostile worlds and drop bombs powerful enough to crack them apart. The action unfolds in varied levels built around circular arenas, with enemies ranging from quick divebombers to hulking tractor-beam transports and boss warships.
Combat is designed for twin-stick control, using a controller or mouse and keyboard, and mixes a primary attack with six add-on weapons. Those include chain lightning and bullet-reflecting satellites, while upgradeable ship stats cover fire rate, bullet spread, boosters and magnetic collectors. After destroying a planet, you can harvest asteroids for materials; some levels turn that salvage into a race against the approaching blast wave. Choosing whether to confront a warship also means weighing its dangers against the unique upgrade it carries.
The different modes frame distinct kinds of arcade challenge: Campaign sends the Heckabomber across enemy worlds, Survival pits a customized ship against an endless battle, and Hardcore removes continues while making enemies more dangerous. Casual offers a lower-pressure route, while Duel isolates the enemy ace and his elite henchmen.
