In Heads Will Roll: Reforged, you begin as an ordinary footman caught in the Hundred Years War between England and France. Survival is the immediate ambition, but careful play can raise the soldier’s standing toward knighthood. Its blend of RPG and survival design makes the campaign about more than winning battles: choices made in and out of combat carry consequences, shaping NPCs’ opinions and affecting later interactions and events.
Combat is turn-based and weighs a broad set of factors, including character attributes, weapon familiarity, weapon length, fatigue, injuries and equipment. The arsenal ranges from swords and spears to throwing knives and crossbows, each with distinct movesets and characteristics. Loot and supplies also support crafting, including medical and utility items and crossbow ammunition, giving scavenging a practical role alongside fighting.
The game offers a story mode focused on narrative, with quick-save and quick-load options, as well as a roguelike mode where death can contribute to profile progression and unlock starting advantages. Randomly generated elements also vary items, stats, enemies, choices and events between playthroughs. As a single-player RPG, its player-count context is individual campaign play, rather than a shared multiplayer session.
