Hand of Fate 2 casts its dungeon crawling as a contest against the Dealer, an enigmatic opponent seeking revenge. A century after the Dealer was usurped, a new master presides over the Game of Life and Death. Rather than presenting each adventure as a fixed sequence, the game has players choose encounters from a deck of legendary events, making the arrangement of the journey part of its central design.
That card-driven structure meets action-RPG combat. Players can fight with quick dual-wielded daggers or heavy two-handed hammers, build a combo meter, and unleash special attacks. The encounters range from hunting assassins and reuniting lovers to preparing a fortress against raiders; companions can join battles or influence the boardgame’s rules. Artifacts and items can be earned and upgraded, while distinct groups of enemies include Imperial soldiers, corrupted mutants, and northern raiders.
The single-player format frames Hand of Fate 2 as a personal, campaign-like challenge rather than a game organized around concurrent participants. Its combination of chosen encounters, companion-assisted rule-bending, and direct combat gives the adventure its particular identity: each stage is shaped by a deck, but danger is also met face-to-face.
