Half-Life: MMod is a free, fan-made modification for Half-Life that reworks the original game’s arsenal and combat while aiming to retain its spirit. Rather than replacing the familiar foundation, it adds options for how weapons behave and how combat feels, with many changes available to toggle through a dedicated in-game settings menu.
Its gunplay changes include dynamic bullet spread, smoother recoil and an option for non-hitscan bullets. Weapons also gain extra functions such as silencers, add-ons and alternate fire modes, alongside new animations and touched-up models. The mod further adjusts enemy responsiveness and adds visual and audio feedback, including redesigned effects for explosions, impacts and muzzle flashes, plus weapon foley and additional creature sounds.
Beyond combat, Half-Life: MMod includes a basic chapter-selection system, restored HEV voice lines and visual refinements such as detail textures and animated weapon screens. It also makes atmospheric and pacing-related map adjustments, described as a work in progress. The emphasis is on selectively updating the original experience: players can leave some additions off, making customization a defining part of this overhaul.
