GUNS UP! combines real-time strategy with tower defense, framing each battle around the tension between attacking an opponent and preparing a base to withstand one. Players send troops into battle while defending their own layouts against other players’ attacks. Its asynchronous PvP format means attackers face bases built by other players, rather than relying on both sides to act at once, giving player-count figures a different context from a game centered on simultaneous matches.
On offense, soldiers can be supported with orders and special attacks, including abilities such as smokescreens and bombing runs. Players recruit soldier classes, upgrade and customize troops with battle loot, and can use experienced soldiers across multiple battles or in base defense. Combat specials may drop during a fight or be earned as victory rewards for a later battle, adding another layer of preparation to the immediate decisions of deploying units and backing them up.
Defense is an active part of the strategy: players lay out, expand, experiment with, and upgrade their bases, with successful defenses earning rewards even while they are away. The game also includes replay-based retaliations, which can bring bonus loot and resources, as well as alliance competitions for loot and leaderboard recognition. Together, these systems make GUNS UP! a strategy game about building a durable stronghold while finding openings in someone else’s.
