Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2 picks up Vinnie Cannoli’s story fifteen years after he survived the Thugtown Massacre. Set in 1944, its gangster plot follows loose ends from that earlier disaster into the closing stage of the war in Europe, where Vinnie tries to discover who is pursuing him and turning his friends against him. The result pairs mob-story melodrama with a World War II setting rather than leaving the action in Thugtown.
Combat is built around a broad set of movement and aiming options: Vinnie can aim in 360 degrees, double-jump, kick, dodge-roll and somersault, while dual guns and a weapon wheel add flexibility to fights. The levels also make the surroundings part of the spectacle. Players can bring down walls, set off barrels, drop crates on enemies, blow up cars and kick foes through doors. Animated cutscenes, ragdoll reactions, cynical one-liners and comical enemies give the violent action a deliberately irreverent tone.
Its illustrated 1940s environments, from streets and cars to speakeasies and propaganda posters, reinforce the period setting as Vinnie’s adventure moves onto European battlefields. Together, the mobility-focused combat, destructible scenery and gangster humor define this particular action-adventure.
