In Grow: Song of the Evertree, Alaria’s many worlds have faded, leaving the Evertree as a sapling. As the last Everheart Alchemist, you take on the task of caring for it and helping its worlds return. The game frames that work as an open-ended, single-player adventure, inviting you to choose how to spend your time rather than follow one prescribed activity.
Alchemy is central to the design: craft World Seeds to create distinct places, then tend them as they change and develop new properties. Exploration offers its own mix of pursuits, including caves and puzzles, collecting flowers and minerals, fishing, and catching bugs. The game also connects world care to community-building: meet residents, learn their stories, help them find homes or jobs, and shape a town by placing and customizing buildings.
Its pace and activities are presented as choices, while the changing seed-grown worlds and relationships with characters provide several strands of progress within the same adventure. The premise ties those systems together around restoring the Evertree and rediscovering what lies at its heart.
