Gridle is an incremental idle RPG built around commanding a party against waves of enemies. Its members fight automatically, so combat can continue while the player attends to other tasks. The central challenge is preparing the group to survive and make as much progress as possible, rather than directing every attack in real time.
Party management comes through a set of connected progression choices. Players can assign classes to party slots, upgrade those classes, unlock skills, heal and reassign members, and level them up. Rebirthing adds another layer: it grants knowledge upgrades through a large tree that affects money earnings and individual class perks. The game begins with an initial sequence of levels before moving into an infinite-level progression, giving those upgrades an ongoing purpose.
Gridle can be played normally or in Desktop Overlay mode, a format that suits its automatically advancing battles and lets the game sit alongside other tasks. That combination of idle combat and hands-on optimization defines its particular take on the RPG format.
