Gremlins, Inc. casts players as rival gremlins in a steampunk world, competing for money, political power and prestige. Its board-game structure makes each turn a contest of choices rather than a simple race: players hold six cards, and each can be used either to move around the playing field or take an action. Cards come in permanent, regular, secret and criminal types, while a separate Misfortune deck introduces events that can shift everyone’s standing.
The strategy mixes building resources with disrupting opponents. Players can steal, arrest rivals, start conflicts and pursue several kinds of score, while the game’s resource system leaves room for comebacks. Cards must serve both movement and action, so using one for immediate advantage can affect later plans. Session rules also shape the experience: players may finish at a score limit, after an agreed number of rounds or when a time limit expires. The game offers custom and ranked sessions, as well as team formats and spectator mode.
Team play adds communication and coordination to the strategic contest, and the available team configurations include human players and/or bots. The game also has an offline single-player edition, Gremlins vs Automatons, alongside its online edition, giving players more than one way to engage with its tactical card play.
