In Goodnight Butcher, the late shift at the run-down Happy Knife Co. meatshop turns routine work into a fight to survive. You play its sole employee, preparing meat for the next day while unsettling apparitions stalk the old building. The game leaves open whether these horrors are supernatural or products of the butcher’s mind, giving its workplace horror an uneasy edge.
The central task is hands-on butchery: use machinery scattered through the shop to saw, chop, grind and mince meat. That practical work unfolds across thirteen detailed rooms, among monsters and other hazards, with hand-drawn visuals that aim for an old-school feel without pixel art. Story Mode frames the shift as a mystery to unravel, while the tense atmosphere is built through its environments and sounds as well as its dangers.
Nightmare Mode shifts the focus toward speed and survival, challenging players to fill the meat case as quickly as possible without dying. Goodnight Butcher also encourages competition with friends over the fastest time.
