Goobies is a single-player, top-down auto-shooter where each run brings waves of enemies, from small blobs to giant bosses. Its roguelike structure is shaped by procedurally generated levels and difficulty that increases as players progress, giving the battles a changing backdrop rather than a fixed sequence of encounters.
Choice and collection add another layer to the combat. Players select among five Goobies, each with a distinct passive ability and playstyle, then gather items to create combinations; more than thirty items are available, and many have multiple upgrades. Artifacts can further alter the game’s mechanics and visuals, while coins earned from runs unlock additional power. An in-game encyclopedia tracks progress and offers lore, connecting repeated attempts to both advancement and discovery.
Its appeal rests on how those elements combine across procedurally generated levels, rather than on a shared match or co-op structure.
