The Odyssey: Winds of Athena is a physics-based overhead strategy game inspired by Homer’s epic. You take the role of Athena, shaping wind, seas, and air to help Odysseus and his fleet find their way home from the Trojan Wars. Its focus is environmental guidance rather than direct control of the hero: the fleet’s journey depends on how you use divine powers to steer it through changing conditions.
Water currents are central to the challenge. You manipulate the environment while protecting the ships from hazards including cyclones, storm clouds, sirens, harpies, and sea monsters. The game presents these threats across a series of scenarios that call for strategic decisions, with more than 50 hand-painted levels to navigate. Its Mediterranean setting and mythological dangers give the journey a distinct visual and thematic frame.
Levels can be replayed to improve your score and rating, adding a reason to revisit earlier routes and refine your approach. The combination of simulated currents, environmental control, and a mythic voyage makes this a compact strategy take on Odysseus’s homeward journey, asking you to guide a vulnerable fleet through peril rather than simply recount the story.
