GINKA is a single-player visual novel from Frontwing, built around a reunion shadowed by an unexplained disappearance. Five years after his childhood friend Shinomiya Ginka vanishes during a summer festival, high-school student Aoba Ryusei returns to their island during summer break. He discovers that no one has seen her since that night, then encounters a girl who looks like Ginka and welcomes him back, despite not knowing her own name.
The story’s central mystery rests on questions of identity and time: where the girl has been, why she has not aged, and whether she is truly Ryusei’s missing friend. The island’s belief that Ginka was “spirited away” gives the reunion a supernatural edge, while Ryusei’s resolve to enjoy the summer with her brings a more intimate thread into the premise. The contrast between a tranquil childhood setting and an impossible return defines the novel’s distinctive setup.
GINKA is presented as a visual novel rather than an action-focused adventure. Its listed features support a flexible, self-paced reading experience: it can be played without timed input, allows saves at any time, and includes custom volume controls and stereo sound. The creative credits also connect the project with the team behind ATRI -My Dear Moments-, with Asta Konno handling planning and story and Yusano contributing art and character design. Together, the mysterious reunion, island-summer atmosphere, and reading-focused format frame GINKA as a character-led story.
