Set one year after the first Ghostrunner, this first-person slasher returns to a post-apocalyptic future where Dharma Tower remains humanity’s refuge. Jack faces a violent AI cult gathered outside the tower, and the struggle reaches into the world beyond its walls. That blend of close-quarters action and a threatened human refuge gives the game’s cyberpunk setting a clear focus.
Katana combat anchors the action, while new skills and a redesigned progression system let players experiment with their approach. Enemies respond differently depending on the skills used against them, adding variation to encounters. The design also moves beyond straightforward combat: nonlinear levels include complex motorbike sections, interactive environments feature destructible walls and explosive barrels, and boss fights give players choices in how to survive. A dialogue system offers another way to engage with the story and lore.
Its format pairs demanding encounters with opportunities to customize gameplay, while new modes broaden the offering without changing the central premise: Jack’s fight against the AI cult and the uncertain future of humanity. The synthwave soundtrack, with contributions from several artists, complements the game’s cyberpunk world.
