Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective begins at the end of its hero’s life. Sissel awakens as a ghost with no memory and only until sunrise to discover who killed him and why. The investigation starts with a detective who may have witnessed the shooting, giving the mystery a focused, urgent frame while quirky humor and charming characters temper its dark setup.
The game’s distinctive hook is that Sissel investigates from beyond the grave: he can possess and manipulate objects, then rewind time as he works through brainteasing puzzles. Those powers make the mystery a hands-on sequence of problem-solving rather than simply a matter of collecting clues. This is a single-player adventure, so its format centers on one person following the story and working out each puzzle, not on competing or cooperating with other players.
This edition presents the mystery as an HD remaster, with upgraded visuals and sound. Its music arrangements by Yasumasa Kitagawa are synchronized with the original score, allowing players to switch between them during gameplay; a gallery of artwork and music adds another way to revisit the game’s presentation.
