Gears of War: E-Day turns to the catastrophe that precedes the original Gears of War, following Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde erupts from underground. Its campaign frames Emergence Day as a fight for survival, with the series’ familiar brutal tone recast as a darker origin story. Players can tackle the campaign alone or with online companions, so its central narrative has a cooperative route as well as a solo one.
Combat keeps Gears’ cover-based identity while adding modernized movement and traversal. Players can jump, vault, slide, and flank, and the game pairs returning weapons with new tools designed for close-quarters fighting. This combination makes positioning and movement part of the action, rather than reducing encounters to firepower alone. The advertised PC options include remappable keyboard-and-mouse or controller inputs, ultrawide support, and uncapped frame rates on capable hardware.
Beyond the campaign, Horde Siege offers cooperative wave survival: four-player squads choose from Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher, while multiple squads can work toward shared objectives and confront world bosses. Versus supplies competitive PvP through four-versus-four modes, with Ranked and Social playlists.
