Gal Guardians: Demon Purge sends demon-hunting sisters Shinobu and Maya Kamizono into a sprawling castle formed from their transformed school. Their goal is to save it, while the story also follows the mystery behind the transformation and the whereabouts of the other students. The premise gives this side-scrolling action adventure a clear sense of place: progress means pushing through the castle and confronting the demons guarding its deeper reaches.
The sisters fight differently, and players can switch between them on the fly. Shinobu specializes in long-range attacks, while Maya is a close-range brawler; each also has distinct sub-weapons that consume Weapon Points. Boss victories yield further sub-weapons, which add combat options and open new routes through the castle. If one sister falls, Sister Rescue lets her partner revive her by returning to the spot where she fell. Three selectable styles, Casual, Veteran and Legend, let players adjust difficulty at any time without drawbacks. The story offers Pure and Refined voice-track options, with original Japanese voices in Pure and English voice acting in Refined.
The game is listed as both single-player and co-op, with shared or split-screen play supported. Co-op requires two controllers, and a second player can join during a run.
