Foresight casts the player as a commander in a space-based real-time strategy battle, directing fleets through wormholes against an enemy. Its focus is not simply amassing ships: the game emphasizes planning, intelligence and positioning, with reconnaissance units able to establish observation posts or fire-support bases. Fighters and bombers add distinct roles, from patrols to bombing missions, while the action plays out through dogfights and weapons fire.
Commanders give the fleet a layer of personality and progression. Recruited officers offer suggestions, make requests and report progress; their fleets operate semi-autonomously under the player’s broader command. Those forces gain experience and improve their abilities, and promotions increase the number of ships the player can control. Foresight also pares back build-order complexity: a ship can request fighters and bombers, with the game’s AI handling selection of a shipyard and deployment. The aim is to keep attention on strategic choices rather than routine micromanagement.
That design frames the game’s supported play formats: it offers single-player battles as well as multiplayer skirmishes, with up to eight players. The central appeal is therefore fleet command and tactical decision-making, whether facing the game alone or other players, rather than a fast-paced test of individual dexterity.
